Chiropractic works by restoring your own inborn ability to be healthy. With proper nerve function, your body is designed to resist disease and ill health.
A common interference to the nervous system is the 24 moving bones of the spinal column. A loss of normal motion or position of these bones can disrupt the transmission of controlling nerve impulses throughout your body.
A Chiropractor can help remove interferences that may be impairing your health by gently “adjusting” these “subluxated” vertebrae along the spinal column. This can have a positive effect on many conditions not normally thought of as “back” problems.
What do adjustments feel like?
After the adjustments, many patients report a sense of well-being or a feeling of calmness. Others feel improved mobility. Inflammation or muscle spasms may delay these positive effects. Chiropractors excel at making adjustments comfortable and effective.
Is chiropractic care safe?
Yes. A New Zealand government study concluded that Chiropractic adjustments are “remarkably safe.” Taking an over-the-counter pain reliever is about 100 times more risky.
In fact, adverse effects of medical treatment is the principal cause of death in people under 45 years of age, as well as being the leading cause of morbidity and permanent disability. Costing Australians $401 million dollars per year and consumed 16% of Australia’s total annual health system expenditure for injury. 17% of hospital admission results in adverse events, 5% results in death, and 50,000 people per year are permanently disabled as a result of their medical treatment (from The report, Health System Costs of Injury, Poisoning and Musculoskeletal Disorders in Australia 1993-1994).
Should I wait until I’m in pain before I see a chiropractor?
Most health problems begin long before symptoms develop. Pain is the last thing the body experiences and is usually the first thing to go away. Assuming you are healthy because you feel good is a dangerous proposition. Underlying health problems can be discovered objectively without symptoms. Pain is very subjective and everyone has a different tolerance; therefore, it is a poor guide to determine how healthy you are.
Before chiropractic care, I was tired, stiff and with sore back. I had swollen neck and had difficulty in turning my head properly. I also suffered from poor memory and occasional migraine headaches. Now, my head and shoulder mobility has improved and I’ve had no more migraines for the past 3 months of my care. My head is also no longer lopsided and my memory is better.
Since receiving chiropractic care, I’ve had no asthma, no hay fever and no back pain.
After 12 years of vocal chord papillomas, I have had much symptoms reduced over the last 12 months of chiropractic care
I haven’t had hay fever or cold and my muscles between the shoulder blades aren’t sore anymore. The power is on!
